Mental Health Interventions

1 in 5 displaced persons are
affected by mental health disorders

Mental health is a state of well being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well, work well and contribute to their community. People who are exposed to adverse circumstances including poverty, violence, disability and inequality are at a higher risk of developing a mental health condition. 1 in 5 Internally Displaced Persons are affected by mental health disorder. Health systems have not yet adequately responded to the needs of people with mental disorders and are significantly under resourced. The gap between the need for treatment and its provision is wide all over the world.
